Aspen is a versatile women's sweatshirt and dress pattern that allows your customers to create a wide range of garments. From a trendy cropped sweatshirt to a comfortable sweatshirt dress or stylish sleeveless sweater vest, Aspen combines a modern, relaxed fit with an impressive variety of design options.

The real highlight of this pattern is its seven different neckline finishes, all designed to fit the same V-shaped neckline opening. Combined with four lengths and two sleeve options, these allow your customers to create a completely different look each time using just one base pattern.

Your customers can choose from the following options:

• Four lengths: cropped sweatshirt, regular-length sweatshirt, short above-the-knee dress or long dress with side slits

Skill level

Easy to intermediate, depending on the neckline finish selected.

Aspen has a difficulty rating of two out of four dots and is suitable for confident beginners who would like to learn new sewing techniques. The basic construction is straightforward, but neatly inserting the neckline finish into the V-shaped opening requires a little extra precision.

Your customers will practise techniques such as attaching stretch neckbands, sewing an inset into a V-shaped opening and using different methods to finish the armholes of the sleeveless version.

The high collar with zip version has a difficulty rating of three out of four dots, as inserting the zip neatly requires additional accuracy.

Fit

Aspen has a relaxed, roomy fit that feels comfortable without being excessively oversized. Its modern silhouette provides plenty of freedom of movement and room for layering, while maintaining a well-balanced shape.

The sweatshirt versions are available in cropped and regular lengths, allowing your customers to choose between a trendy shorter style and a timeless everyday sweatshirt. The sleeveless version can easily be worn as a sweater vest over a T-shirt or shirt.

The dress versions fall straight from the bust and are available in two lengths. The short dress finishes above the knee, while the long dress features side slits for extra freedom of movement.

With its different lengths, sleeve options and neckline finishes, Aspen can be adapted to a wide range of styles and seasons.

Fabric recommendations

• Medium- to heavyweight fabrics such as sweatshirt fleece, jogging fabric and French terry are ideal for comfortable sweatshirts and sweatshirt dresses
• Knitted fabrics and teddy fleece create warm, soft winter versions
• Thanks to the relaxed fit, woven fabrics can also be used for the front, back and sleeves
• The sailor collar, lined hood and high collar with zip can also be made from woven fabrics
• For the V-neck band, round neckband, high collar and wrap-over collar, ribbing or a knitted fabric with sufficient stretch is essential
• The different neckline finishes offer plenty of opportunities to combine fabrics, colours and textures
