What your Jack will look like in the end is all up to you. You choose the design depending on which part of your personality you want to express with your homemade clothes. 

Here are some of Jack's main features: 

• Make a basic jersey T-shirt with a wide arm trim or with a straight sleeve that reaches to the elbow.

• We added the front of a minimalist blazer to the pattern pieces so you can make a chic blazer shirt. Or a shirt with 1 or 2 blazer front panels attached for an extra fashionable look.

• For the neckline you can choose to add a jersey trim, or a facing which gives a very neat finish if you use woven fabrics. In this case, you sew an invisible zipper in the shoulder seam.

• With all variants you have the option to add a breast pocket.

• A4/letter pattern to print at home.
  This file contains all the pattern parts you need to make every single variant. When you print this, you will need to tape or glue the pages together before you can cut out the entire pattern pieces. Learn here how you can tape the pieces together in a fast and easy way.
  
• A0 pattern to print at a copy shop.
  Would you rather not tape pieces together? We got you covered with this large pattern format. If you don't own a plotter you can print out this file in a copy shop or at a fabric store that provides a print on demand service.
• Both A4/letter and A0 pattern files come in a file where the seam allowance is included AND a seperate file where the seam allowance is not included (which is easier to work with if you want to do a lot of adjustments). All files have a layer per size so that you don’t have to trace your size onto a different sheet of paper and add seam allowance yourself. You can easily uncheck all the layers you don’t need and print only your size with seam allowance included. That way you can directly cut out what you have printed. Don’t forget to tell your copy shop to select the right layers!

• Projector file. Want to skip printing all together? You can! With this file you can project the pattern pieces straight onto your fabric using a projector/beamer. 

Level

Easy to intermediate (depending on the variation).

Jack is a perfect beginner project or a quick fix for the more experienced sewers. The easiest variant is the basic jersey T-shirt. If you like a bit more of a challenge, the woven shirt with overlap and invisible shoulder zip offers more techniques.

Fit

The fit of this pattern is designed to allow you to use both woven and jersey fabrics. Jack has an oversized fit with dropped shoulders. There is a lot of ease on the chest, less on the hips.

In jersey fabric, feel free to size down if you want it to be less oversized. Do measure the circumference of the hem and compare it with your hip circumference to check if it won't fit too snug.

Fabric choice

You can use both woven and knitted fabrics for this design. The T-shirts can be made in a knit fabric of your choice, from light to medium weight. For the blazer shirts and shirts with overlap, it is best to choose a light to medium weight woven fabric that is not too stiff, but is not too drapey either. Think of a fabric you would choose for a blazer or shirt. Jack also allows you to make wonderful combinations of different fabrics, motifs and/or colours. Let your creativity run wild!

This model is less suitable for thick, stiff fabrics.

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND WASHING YOUR FABRIC BEFORE CUTTING.

Think about the environment and choose deadstock fabrics if you can. That way you give these leftover fabrics from fashion brands a second life and they don’t end up in landfills.

Fabric requirements 

The fabric lengths charts show how much fabric you will need for all variations, calculated on a standard fabric width of 140 cm - 1.55 yd. If your fabric is narrower, you will need more fabric length. For broader or narrower fabrics you can calculate how much fabric you will need by laying out the pattern pieces on the table according to your fabric width and measuring how much fabric length you will need accordingly.

Finished measurements

Jack has an ease of 6.3 cm (2 1/2 ") at the chest and hips and 18.3 cm (7 1/4 ") at the waist compared to the size chart. Add this number to the chest/hip circumference and waist circumference respectively to determine the circumference of the finished garment.
